Band and Choir

Band

The Glenwood High School Band meets every Wednesday afternoon for rehearsals in the music performance room. The Band performs a wide range of repertoire including pop, funk, film music and other styles. The Band is open to all ages from Year 7 – 12 and students play a wide variety of instruments including drums, guitar, bass, woodwind and brass instruments. The band provides students with an excellent opportunity to learn to play a variety of music, to perform as a member of an ensemble, and also to improve listening and notation reading skills. The band performs at school functions including Maddness night and it also performs annually in competitions such as local eisteddfods.

Choir

The Glenwood High School Choir meets twice per week on Monday and Friday at lunchtime in the music room. The Choir is open to all ages of students (Years 7 – 12) who love to sing and have fun. The Choir sings a variety of popular songs, which are usually chosen by the students. The choir offers students an opportunity to learn to perform as a member of an ensemble, to learn to read scores and also to express creativity and develop confidence in themselves. The choir often perform at school events including Harmony Day and Maddness night. The choir also performs annually at local eisteddfods.

The Glenwood High School Chamber Choir,  is for more advanced singers from Years 10 – 12. The Chamber Choir rehearses weekly on Wednesday at recess and also before school on Thursday mornings. The Chamber Choir provides students with an opportunity to explore more formal choral repertoire as well as a cappella repertoire. Students in this group continue to develop their ensemble and solo performance skills. The Chamber Choir performs regularly at school events including Harmony Day and Maddness. It also performs at Eisteddfods and community events.
