Year 10 Exams

14-19 May

A copy of the examination timetable when published will be posted on this event, and Year 10 page

This is a formal examination period and students are expected to be undertaking home study in preparation for their examinations.

Attendance at these examinations is compulsory and students are expected to attend school every day, for every examination. When students do not have examinations, they will attend normal classes.

During the examination period, students must arrive at school by 8.40am (normal time) and present to the allocated examination venue 20 minutes prior to the scheduled start time to allow for entry and procedural explanations.

Where students fail to complete an examination (due to illness or misadventure), students must follow the procedures as outlined in the ‘Year 10 Assessment Policy‘ document issued to students in Term 1. This document is also available on the school’s website.

Expectations of acceptable behaviour for students are outlined in this letter and in the ‘Year 10 Assessment Policy’ document.  The following key points should be noted:

  • As these are formal examinations, students will be expected to follow strict examination conditions from the moment they enter any room until they are dismissed. This includes having all their own equipment - borrowing during examinations is not permitted. Pencil cases are not permitted into the examination room.
  • Students are responsible for checking their examination timetable carefully each day, ensuring that they arrive 20 minutes early to the relevant examination venue.
  • If a student is absent during the examination period, please advise the school as soon as possible prior to the examination, and provide written confirmation on the next possible school day. This must be supported with a medical certificate or statutory declaration for the examination mark to contribute to the student’s school assessment grade. A formal appeal must be lodged with the deputy principal.
  • Students are not permitted to enter the examination room with mobile/smart phones, electronic devices, Smart watches or any device that may provide an unfair advantage over other students. These devices must be switched off and kept in students’ school bags if they are brought to school.
  • Students must wear correct full school uniform to all examinations.
  • It would be appreciated if you could discuss these expectations with your child. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions.
